Newsletter Vol. #1 That's how I see it!

This is the inaugural edition (second round) of the That's how I see it! Newsletter-so welcome!

We'll try to be entertaining, informative, with a little bit of something for everyone. Maybe even bring a little controversy to your life and/a smile to your lips once in a while.

Hi, how was your week? Mine was great--took the grandkids, wife and daughter--or rather they took me--the Museum of Man & Nature. Spent today dealing with pirates, buried treasure, replica of a pirate ship and Miliah's favourite memory-a manikin doctor sawing the leg off a sailor.

A very good person I knew passed away a week ago. We didn't see much of each other, our lives led us in different directions but when we did cross paths I knew he was special, he was a genuinely good man. He loved his family, music, God-- he loved his life. This world is better for him having been in it.

When someone dies that I care about I am reminded of my own mortality. His passing certainly got me thinking about my own life--where I am at, and what I still want to do/accomplish/visit/feel - I plan to work on this.

Newsletter Vol. # 5 That's how I see it!

Hi, how are things with you? Interesting week for me. I made one of those "Defining Moment" decisions this week and have mixed feelings about it.

What's happening with you? Anything you can share? How about your perspective on something that gets your ire up? Write it up and send it in.

Heading out on holidays on Wed. (3/25) so the newsletter will be down for awhile.

Please feel free to share the newsletter with those on your mailing list.

Cluttering Up Your Mind

Researchers estimate the average person has 60,000 thoughts per day--most of them repetitive and useless. This steady loop of worries, fantasies, judgments and memories running on our cerebral sprockets can make for fascinating theatre--providing we know how to turn off the projector (before we get sick).                                                                 Carolin Vesely

Is it ever too late to regain balance in a relationship?

Can a relationship end - of course! Sometimes so much damage is done, mainly through poor communication, misunderstanding and assumption making, that the will to carry on, to try again, gets lost. Couples can go on for a very long time "trying", but like adding weights to the old scales of justice, one pound or one thing more can tip the "that's it" scale and the feelings shut down and the relationship is virtually over.

I taught my kids not to talk to strangers.
Now my kid is telling her kids not to talk to strangers.

Perhaps it is okay to talk to a stranger when you're 74 and the person you're speaking with has a common annoyance.

Downtown Victoria is very interesting with its many little unique shops, eating establishments and places for afternoon tea. The famous Empress hotel is presently getting a facelift; we did a walkabout and discovered that even afternoon tea would strain the budget.

Newsletter Vol. # 50 That's how I see it!

Hello and welcome to the 50th edition (2016) of That's how I see it!
We have had a great summer-lots of golf, summer theatre, grandkids over for weekends, the highlight was when we celebrated our 50th anniversary (people came from all over to celebrate with us), it was a glorious 3 days.

People have all gone home, the leaves are falling in abundance, it's dark by 7 pm, and there is a tension to finish all the "summer jobs" around the house. Fall is here-lets enjoy it before...

Newsletter:

Newsletter Vol. # 51 That's how I see it!

Here is what a reader expressed in comparing the summer Mid-Week newsletter and the That's how I see it! newsletter:

"I much prefer your new Mid-Week concept to your other blog. The Mid-Week is focused on your experience and knowledge, the other blog seems to be random thoughts with no cohesion, or connection to your message.
That's just the way I see it!!!"

Newsletter Vol. # 52 That's how I see it!

There is a widespread belief that if a person can be convinced, allowed, or helped to express his feelings, he will in some way benefit from it. The belief that to discharge one's feelings is beneficial is also prevalent among the general public. Friends are encouraged to 'get it off their chests,' helped to 'blow off steam,' or to 'let it all hang out.' Sports or strenuous physical activities are lauded as a means of 'working off' feelings, particularly hostility, and it is accepted that there is some value in hitting, throwing, or breaking something when frustrated.
